The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is an approach to the religious formation of children ages 3-6. It is rooted in the Bible, the liturgy of the Church, and the educational principles of Maria Montessori. Children gather in an “atrium,” a room prepared for them, which contains simple yet beautiful materials that they use.
For the 2017-18 year we will grow in our faith through using materials such as the articles of the Mass: the tabernacle, ciborium, the liturgical calendar, and the vestments of the priests. Furthermore, your child will meditate on the Infancy Narratives of the Annunciation and Visitation as well as the parables, the gestures of the epiclesis and offering (doxology), as well as learn about the gestures and oils used at baptism.
